Nightshine Black Lager
Nothing instills greater fear than a pair of glowing eyes caught in the headlights on a cold dark night. For those who make it home safely, these eyes will linker in hidden corners of an imagination forever. Our smooth Black Lager made of de-husked malts delivers all of the darkness, complexity and wonder you’d expect from two glowing eyes in the dark.
A German-Style Schwarzbier. This lager is rich with roasted malt flavors of coffee, chocolate and nuts. The finish is crisp and clean making this beer great for all seasons.
Appearance
- The beer pours a deep brown to near-black color, with hints of ruby or mahogany in the light.
- It typically sports a beige or tan head which lingers and offers good contrast against the dark body.
Aroma & Flavor Profile
- On the nose: rich roasted malt character — think dark bread crust, subtle coffee notes, and chocolate hints.
- Flavor: roast-malt driven, with coffee, dark chocolate, and nutty undertones. A medium body keeps things balanced and drinkable. The finish is crisp and dry, giving it a clean exit rather than a heavy lingering sweetness
Mouthfeel & Finish
- Mouthfeel: medium body, smooth texture, with moderate carbonation. Easy to drink despite the dark color and roast profile.
- Finish: dry and clean — which helps it avoid feeling heavy or overly rich, and makes it suitable across seasons.
Serving & Pairing Suggestions
- Serve cold, but not freezer-cold; somewhere around 45-50 °F (about 7-10 °C) helps bring out the malt aromas.
- Glassware: a standard pilsner glass or a tulip works well (to capture aroma and allow for the handsome dark body to show).
- Pairing ideas:
- Grilled sausages or smoked meats — the roastiness will complement char and smoke.
- Chocolate desserts or Nutella crepe — the chocolate/roast notes mirror the dessert.
- Caramelized onions or plates with nuttiness (like a roasted‐nut salad) — to match the nutty malt undertones.
- For something lighter: amber cheeses (Gouda, aged cheddar) with the crisp finish of the lager providing a nice balance.
